I think you should read florida's SYG. SYG does not require you to have been assaulted prior to defending yourself.
Lets say a person is pointing a gun at you, do you need to wait until he shoots you to defend yourself? Not in Florida
How about a knife? Nope, you don't need to have been stabbed
How about a 2x4? Nope, don't need to be hit.
So if Martin believed that he was in eminent danger from Zimmerman he had the right to defend himself. After all, they were apparently in a high crime area where just walking down the street is suspicious. Imagine how suspicious someone following you must be.
If if doesn't bother you that Zimmerman isn't telling the whole truth, that's just sad.
Where is it in evidence that Zimmerman shot or was about to shoot Martin before he assaulted Zimmerman? Where is it in evidence that Zimmerman had a knife? A 2x4?
Dee dee/Jantel/Diamond testified that Martin wasn't afraid of Zimmerman because he would not run home. Why is it that you are adding things which have not been put into evidence?
Previously in my career I was an undercover narcotics detective. I followed people all the time. That never gave them the right to assault me. There is no testimony that Zimmerman acted like someone who was looking to assault Martin. If he had, why would he have called the police instead of simply assaulting him?
You find it sad that it doesn't bother me that I don't believe Zimmerman's entire story. My answer to that is you don't have 20+ years in law enforcement and your experience has not afforded you the opportunity to learn that under pressure, most people tailor their stories to make them look best. What an investigator does is corroborate the important pieces of those stories to provide a best portrait of what happened.
Do you believe everything Dee dee/Jantel/Diamond said is the truth?
