Inauguration Meal

BadGirl

I am so very blessed
Today I am having my brand new gas stove hooked up. :yahoo:

I'm a pretty adventurous cook, and have a stocked pantry, so am willing to try anything, just as long as it doesn't take me four hours to get the meal on the table.

What shall I cook for my inaguration dinner on my new prized toy?

I think you should blacken meat of some form and make a pan sauce. That, to me, is the ultimate reason one would have a gas stove and proper hood vent.
I may do this, although I did grill a marinated London broil on my electric cook-top last night for dinner (used a smokin' hot LeCrueset ridged grill pan).

:lightbulb: Maybe I'll make some bone-in pork chops with a balsamic-dijon sauce, grilled asparagus, and some oh-rotten potatoes.

Frozen pizza!

The prior homeowners must have only cooked frozen pizzas, because that is why I had a crappy kitchen with a horrible layout. Those folks didn't know good appliances and a good design if it had knockem them in the head.

It must have been torture for you to have that stove in storage all this time. Have fun cooking, make a big mess for Bob to clean up! :yahoo:

:howdy:I was going to suggest pork chops! Pork chops with onions and gravy and Liver & Onions are on my menu for tonight. Hubby loves liver & onions, but he and my son are the only two who eat them, so daughter and I will have the chops! Have fun with your new toy!!!

I was in the grocery store when you texed that picture, and I was *this* close to buying some for you as a joke.

I was looking over the canned tuna and saw the "chicken". And man! There was a lot of it - two brands of canned tuna and 70,000 brands of canned chicken gristle. I was flabbergasted.

the beauty is, not waiting for the burner to heat up, no matter what you cook

We are having a fig, prosciutto, mozzeralla cheese homemade pizza topped with arugula and fresh shaved Parmesan cheese tonight, and I ain't got no fancy oven. :frown: I bet it would taste better baked in a fancy oven. :bawl:

BTW, serous question, is your whole house gas or did you have lines run to the kitchen? I've told the giant several times I want to "upgrade" to a gas oven but we don't have gas anywhere else in the house.

Ooh, I think I'll make that tonight for dinner! With a preserved lemon and butter pan sauce.

Not that I have a fancy dancy gas stove and proper hood vent or anything... :frown:
But I can't do it tonight. Already have sausage thawed and potato salad made. Tomorrow night and Giant always has fresh scallops.

I just posted about this last week too! You can simply have one line run to your home for the gas stove. I am looking into it :)
