I am in need of infant day care and am coming up short. I have called 6 in home day cares, 4 didn't return my call, 2 were not taking infants. I have tried some day care centers, but most don't take younger than 2. My baby will only be 2 months old when I go back to work. Creative Beginnings has no openings. We are on the wait list on base for both the center and in homes. Any suggestions? We live in Lexington Park near the base.
First, congrats on your baby! My next little girl is due next week.
Not a solution for everyone, but maybe somthing to help you. We were in a similar situation- it was almost impossible to find infant care. We ended up getting a live in au pair which has worked out great. The prices are pretty steep up front as you pay an agency fee. Our fee was around $6000 (covers background checks, CPR/first aid/childare training, airfare, etc) and we pay the aupair $200 per week. If you average the cost over the course of the year, its around $330 per week. There are about 6 different Dept of state approved au pair agencies if you do a google search.
Its nice not to worry about what to do when the kids are sick- and with a baby, having an extra set of hands around the house helps! Plus having to worry about a babysitter for "date night" or appointments isn't a factor.
Good luck!
