Just a suggestion. Instead of trying to place your child anywhere because you can not find an open spot. Why not talk to friends/relatives/trusted neighbors, perhaps someone you know and trust could care for your child until you find him/her a safe daycare environment. Don't place the most sacred thing to you anywhere - because you have to go back to work. If necessary take an additonal leave from work.
Understood. We don't take chances with child care - we'll be checking out anybody that has an an opening before agreeing to place our baby there. But first, we need to find somebody with an infant spot open, which is damned hard on short notice.
We already had daycare with a good person lined up. Or so we thought. After the baby was born, we called to line up when the first day would be, drop off times, etc., and we were told, "oh yeah, I'm not starting that business after all, sorry".
Thus, the panicked "we need daycare now!" post. If the #### really hits the fan, we've got grandmas who will step up.
