I've just adopted a new dog and have been looking into pet insurance. I wanted to get some opinions/experiences from you guys. Company Y touts that it has what X and Z do not have. And then company Z says they have it and Y doesn't :jameo: TIA!

She's living the tough life now as you can see

Consumer Reports says it's not worth it. Just like buying extended car warranties, to many restrictions and loop holes for them not to pay or way under pay.

Better to just put some money aside to savings account for vet bills.

She's a cutie!!!

I have priced it numerous times and find it is never worth it. To many exclusions and limitations. Just my 2 cents.

so... I have seen many times people submit claims but only to be told they dont cover that.

.... I dont see where its worth it.... its kinda like gambling.

What I do.. is take 40-50 bucks a month and sit it aside for the dogs... this would be close to what the monthly payment to them would be.

what most people (not you) dont understand is that you HAVE TO STILL PAY IN FULL UP FRONT!!! LOL
I have had several clients tell me... well i have insurance for my dog.. I tell them.. oh good for you. But thier insurance is not like ours. You still must pay up front and hope they pay you back!!!

as your pet ages...the payments will increase (and how much depends on the breed of your dog)

as I know a little about your dog.... and the history behind her.... I would be hard to find someone that would cover a pet with pre-existing issues.

Thanks everyone! Looks like I'll be setting it aside every month.

BTW I read up on Doxy and vets are starting to give it 30 days before treatment to kill the bacteria inside of the hw because it somehow protects the hw during the treatment.

She's still afraid of the clicker. And she started associating the clicker noise with the treat bag so she was afraid of the treat bag lol. She's got sit and lay down, down, most of the time. We're working on stay and wait. She's still pretty distracted outside but not pulling as hard unless she catches the scent of a groundhog or cat that just ran away from us.

She looks like she's living the "RUFF" Life. She is just beautiful! My MIL had one of those, and she was the nicest Dog. Congratulations.
