Insurrection Obsession

One could make the case that Democrat policies also murder people in the streets, on a nationwide scale.

Latest is - they're blaming the Republicans for THAT, too. You know, because we won't throw money at the cities (who won't pay for cops anyway - seriously, is there anything in that bill which specifically funds police?).

And the cultists believe that, despite all the right straight in their face evidence to the contrary. Months of Democrat politicians and activists demanding that the police be defunded, of Democrat Mayors actually defunding their police force....and somehow the disciples are like, "Yeah! It's Republicans! Trump's fault!"

This whole thing was a pretty slick operation by Nancy Pelosi and whoever does her thinking for her.
Allow the police to pull back and have the ANTIFA and Proud Boys to instigate crowds into entering the Capitol, call it an insurrection and then use that as an excuse to begin the making of a federal Police Force run by the Democrat party.

Have you SEEN this thing? I looked it up on Amazon. It’s six inches tall and 17 inches wide. You could fit two of them on a stenographer pad.

This is even more ridiculous than “Republicans defunded the police!”.

Fear, Incorporated: 6 Months After Jan. 6 Riot, The Only Thing Democrats Are Serious About Is Power

Meanwhile, the raids on suspects continue, while some arrested months ago are still being held in solitary confinement. In the early days of the investigation, every available FBI agent was reportedly assigned to the case, which is still ongoing. Six months in they crowed that they’d seized a Lego set from one man’s home.

As a regular consumer of this cringe-inducing panic pornography, you could be forgiven for not knowing all the power of the FBI has failed to unmask the suspiciously Antifa-looking suspect who set live and deadly pipe bombs at the Republican National Committee and Democratic National Committee headquarters. He’s received nearly zero attention from either congressional Democrats or their media fixers. It’s funny.

You might also be forgiven for not realizing only one person was killed that day. Her name was Ashli Babbitt, she was one of the rioters, she was unarmed, and she was shot by an officer — although we still don’t know the officer’s name.

Corporate reporters don’t seem bothered by this. Nor do any appear bothered by their roles in spreading the lie that Officer Brian Sicknick was beaten to death with a fire extinguisher. Nor do any appear concerned with tracking down the suspects and instigators of months of national race riots that killed dozens of innocent people, destroyed hundreds of millions in property, and were cheered on by Democrats.

Also, while a “bipartisan report released by the top Republican and Democrat on both the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and the Rules and Administration Committee” found that the Capitol Police failed to protect the the Capitol that day, and while six months later CNN reports they still are in complete disarray, the Capitol Police are busily expanding their authority beyond the Capitol they failed to secure.

I'm more down with anarchy than Stalinism, if I have to make a choice. Obviously I prefer our constitutional system and representative republic, but it looks like that's going the way of the dinosaur.

Could BLM or AntiFa be any more batshit crazy than the psychos that are in our government now?
YES!

Non-Violent Capitol Hill Trespasser Timothy Hale-Cusanelli’s Racist Views Do Not Justify Continued Detention Without Bail

Last week, a federal appellate court affirmed the continued imprisonment without bond of Timothy Hale-Cusanelli, one of more than 500 people who entered the Capitol on Jan. 6.

Hale-Cusanelli has now been jailed in a maximum security federal lockup for almost six months. He is kept in 23-hour-a-day isolation – conditions similar to those imposed on terrorists detained at in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

(Ironically, this fact that doesn’t seem to bother most liberals who, for anyone else, decry solitary confinement as inhumane.)

[clip]

Bail Decision

The district court weighed the four factors and ruled that Hale-Cusanelli was so dangerous that bail was inappropriate.
Taking the four factors in turn, the court found that because Hale-Cusanelli “was not charged with any offenses involving violence or destruction of property,” the first prong tilted toward release. In fact, the district court judge conceded that “if I was just looking at what the defendant did on January 6th, he would be a free man right now.”
In contrast, the district court found that the second factor, the weight of the evidence, favored detention because the evidence demonstrated that “defendant did what the government says he did on January 6th.”
The decision thus came down to the last two factors: Hale-Cusanelli’s history and the future danger he presented to others.

History and Danger

However, NCIS had interviewed 44 of Hale-Cusanelli’s coworkers, and 34 of them had described him “as having extremist or radical views pertaining to the Jewish people, minorities, and women” and stated that he had made abhorrent statements about them such as that “babies born with disabilities should be shot,” that “Hitler should have finished the job,” and that “Jews, women, and blacks were on the bottom of the totem pole.”

NCIS also discovered that, prior to Jan. 6, Hale-Cusanelli had uploaded a series of videos to a YouTube channel in which he expressed racist and anti-Semitic sentiments. Memes conveying similar views were recovered from his phone, as well.

Despite Hale-Cusanelli’s use of such repellent language, however, not one of the 44 people interviewed accused him of ever engaging in violent or threatening behavior.

Because, said the district court, “we don’t typically penalize people for what they say or think,” it turned its focus on a singular youthful indiscretion in which Hale-Cusanelli was involved a decade earlier.

So the guy is a abhorrent Jew Hater .... so now we lock people up for what they think :sshrug:

This is a smack in the face to every American. To be imprisoned for how you think is very, very slippery slope. In my lifetime I have seen many things that were fully acceptable in American society, become reason for ridicule and/or punishment. I'm not defending the past, but the ideal behind the fact that we are ALL free thinkers. When you start punishing thoughts without actions, you're opening a can of worms. ANY true American should be willing to defend with their life the 1st Amendment rights of ALL Americans, no matter how we personally feel about what they say/think. The Thought Police are coming for us all. You won't be protected unless you repeat their mantra, toe the line, and become subservient to the machine.

Federal Judge Throws a Monkey Wrench Into Capitol Riot Prosecutions

A federal judge ruled on Friday that the Justice Department could not use a contractor to organize grand jury materials relating to the more than 500 defendants who have been charged in the January 6 Capitol riot.

The evidence is largely in the form of social media posts, videos, and emails. The Justice Department agreed to pay Deloitte Financial Advisory Services $6.1 million to set up a database containing the evidence gathered by the FBI in their investigation. The database would be available to both the prosecution and the defendants in order to satisfy the requirement that all “exculpatory” evidence be given to the defense.

The government was going to give Deloitte access to sensitive grand jury information, however. The judge ruled that Deloitte was not a government entity and was not entitled to view the secret information.

Politico:

In a 54-page decision, Washington-based U.S. District Court Judge Beryl Howell rejected the government’s arguments that the contractor’s staff would qualify as the equivalent of government employees under the secrecy provisions of grand jury rules. She also said prosecutors had failed to demonstrate that there was a “particularized need” to give Deloitte’s personnel access to the grand jury materials.
“The term ‘government personnel’ is best construed, in accord with the bulk of the district court case law, as including only employees of public governmental entities,” wrote Howell, who oversees grand jury matters as the D.C.-based court’s chief judge.

The Greatest Threat to Democracy Isn't the Capitol Riot. It's Something Far Worse...

On Tuesday, the chairman of the Capitol riot committee, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), claimed that “the rioters came dangerously close to succeeding” in their effort to “upend American democracy.” That statement is, quite frankly, ludicrous, but there are serious threats to American representative democracy at work today, and we need to fight against them.

While the Capitol riot was a national disgrace, it did not represent a serious threat to America’s constitutional system of government. Rioters broke through the strangely weak police lines and breached the Capitol, but the senators and congressmen evacuated safely. Vice President Mike Pence did not bow to pressure, Congress resumed a few hours after the violence, and both chambers certified the Electoral College results, declaring that Joe Biden would be the next president.

[clip]

The Capitol riot did not seriously threaten America’s representative democracy, but that democracy does indeed face serious threats.

First, the public’s increasing skepticism about the electoral process is dangerous. The counting of votes should not be partisan, and election reform should also not be partisan. Americans should want every legally eligible voter to be able to vote and they should want every legally cast ballot counted. Representative democracy only works if the people trust the officials who count the ballots, and those officials need to earn that trust.

Sadly, many election officials rushed to loosen election integrity protections for the 2020 election — ostensibly in order to facilitate voting during a pandemic. Even if these practices were the correct path forward during the pandemic — an extremely debatable point — Americans should broadly support the restoration of election integrity protections after the pandemic. Yet Democrats like Biden have excoriated these efforts, going as far as calling them “Jim Crow on steroids.” What’s the reason for this?

Time magazine may have provided a hint when it published an astonishing story about a “cabal” and a “shadow campaign” that pulled the levers behind the scenes in the 2020 election. While the article claims these efforts aimed at preserving a free and fair election, organizations like the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL) funneled money into blue areas of the country, boosting turnout that helped Biden prevail.

CTCL practices were not, strictly speaking, illegal, but they shifted the playing field in Biden’s favor — perhaps decisively. Many states have moved to outlaw such practices.
