Interesting Story...

A Michigan judge ordered three children be sent to a juvenile detention facility until they were 18-years-old after the trio refused to go to lunch with their father.

According to June 24 court transcripts, Oakland County Judge Lisa Gorcyca told the mother and children, aged 15,10, and 9, that the case, stemming from a contentious divorce that began in 2009, was tied for the worst "parental alienation" case she had ever seen. She blamed the mother for alienating the two older boys and their younger sister from their father.

I'm so glad you posted this... Interesting and thought provoking indeed.

I read it about an hour ago and it has been on my mind ever since. I am torn as to how I feel about it.

Without reading the story, just from the excerpt Rose posted, my reaction is: why are they punishing the kids because their parents are idiots who can't get along? Sending them to be ass raped in a kiddie prison? That's what the judge thinks is a good solution?

Now I will read the story and let you know if my opinion changes....

And now that I've read the story:

This judge is a freaking nut who should be locked away. At least she should be removed from the bench. Even if the mother did alienate the kids from their dad, which I'm not positive is the case, you don't incarcerate the kids for it. That is so far beyond absurd that I have no words to express it.

this I completely and 100% agree with... I'm also of the opinion that his kid's shouldn't be forced to lunch with the man who they witnessed beating their mother. My confusion is more towards how I feel about the kids being completely cut off from the father forever. I would rather see forced family counseling rather than forced lunch dates.

I wondering how much back story there is to this. I think there must be way more to it than this. What I read elsewhere is that the judge is a well respected level headed family advocate.
