(McHENRY, MD) – Maryland State Police are continuing their investigation into a Garrett County crash today that resulted in the death of a truck driver.
The deceased driver’s name has not been released pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
Shortly before 11:30 a.m. today, troopers from the McHenry Barrack responded to a report of a crash in the 12000 block of Bittinger Rd., Bittinger, Md. Northern Garrett County Rescue personnel also responded, and pronounced the truck driver deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates a tractor-trailer traveling southbound on Bittinger Road left the roadway for unknown reasons and overturned, striking a house. There were reportedly four people in the house at the time of the crash; none have reported injuries at this time.
McHenry Barrack troopers are being assisted by troopers from the Maryland State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division in the on-going investigation. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration personnel responded to assist with detours at the crash scene.
