State Police Investigation Into Early Morning Minor Crash Leads To Altercation On The Beltway

(Oxon Hill, MD) – Maryland State Police at Forestville Barrack are investigating an early morning minor crash on I-495 that allegedly lead to an altercation on the side of the road.

The accused is identified as Kevin Miller, 29, of Prince Frederick, Maryland. Miller was the operator and sole occupant of a black 2018 Nissan Sentra involved in the crash. After consultation with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney, Miller is being charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, possession of a handgun in the commission of a felony or crime of violence and reckless endangerment.

The victim is identified as Shannon Miller, age 31, of District Heights, Maryland. Ms. Miller was operating a white 2018 Nissan Sentra at the time of the crash. She was the sole occupant in the vehicle and refused medical treatment at the scene. Police believe the two individuals involved are unrelated.

Shortly after 5:30 a.m. this morning, troopers at the Forestville Barrack were dispatched to the scene of a minor crash after a concerned citizen called to report the incident in the roadway in the area of southbound I-495 at Saint Barnabas Road. Subsequent phone calls were received by both individuals involved in the crash advising police of the incident. Both of the callers told police that handguns were brandished after the crash occurred.

Troopers arrived on the scene. They were assisted by officers from the Prince George’s County Police Department. Further investigation on the scene led to the recovery of a handgun and ammunition in Kevin Miller’s vehicle. He was taken into custody and transported to the Forestville Barrack for processing. After consultation with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney, Miller was charged and transported to Prince George’s County Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro where he will await an appearance before the court commissioner.
