State Police Investigation Into Fatal Crash On Capital Beltway

(Lanham, MD) Maryland State Police are investigating an early morning fatal crash on the Capital Beltway.

The deceased is identified as Ronet Aching, 22, of Upper Marlboro. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was the driver and sole occupant of a Nissan Xterra traveling on the inner loop, north of Route 450 in Lanham when the crash occurred.

The driver and sole occupant of the second vehicle involved has not yet been identified. He was driving a 2007 Ford F150 and was transported from the scene to Prince George’s Hospital Shock Trauma Center where he is being treated for injuries sustained in the crash.

Just before 6:00 a.m. this morning, troopers from the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack responded to the report of a motor vehicle crash on the inner loop of the Capital Beltway, north of Route 450 (Annapolis Road) in Lanham. Upon arrival, troopers found a two vehicle crash with multiple injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates the Ford F150, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes on I-495 when the driver struck the Nissan Xterra head on. Emergency medical service personnel pronounced the driver of the Nissan deceased at the scene.

All lanes of the inner loop are closed while Maryland State Police CRASH Team personnel reconstruct the collision. MDOT State Highway Administration CHART personnel are on the scene to assist with detouring traffic.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing and charges are pending. Alcohol is considered a factor in the crash. Anyone with information about the crash may contact the College Park Barrack at 301-345-3101.
