Invisalign vs. Traditional Braces

But wait, there's more...
:howdy: LTNC! Hope everyone is doing well & had an enjoyable Turkey day. I had to stop and think before logging on, as I couldn't remember my user name! Yakky ... no ... Bch ... no ...

I'm performing my due diligence & seeking input. DQ needs to get braces, but her level of necessary "correction" is mild/moderate, making her (according to the Ortho) a candidate for either traditional braces or Invisalign. I trust the Ortho's opinion, as he is who my dentist uses for his sons' braces, and my dentist is a personal friend, so I trust him as well. ("If this guy is good enough for the dentist's kids" kinda thing ..."). Since DQ can get either, and the orthodontist said its up to us to decide the pros & cons of managing either option, I'm curious to know what others' experience with both options is, if you don't mind sharing. Cost isn't the factor; long-term outcome, day-to-day management, and maintenance are my primary concerns -- I know in the end, either option will correct the minor challenges she has, orally speaking.

I'm leaning more toward the Invisalign for DQ because I think it - realistically - will be more manageable for her to floss/brush/eat/live with than traditional braces, but it's hard to argue with the long-standing proven results of traditional braces, whereas Invisalign is still relatively new (<15 yrs). DQ's dad is on the fence, and sees the pros and cons to both, as do I. But I'm the one who will primarily be "dealing" with the issue in terms of day-to-day mgmt, appointments, adjustments, laying the smack down if she doesn't follow the Ortho's orders, etc.

Any info would be most appreciated. I know there's a ton of info on Al Gore's internet and all, but I really want some interactive input on this, and not too many of my (local) peeps have a lot of experience with braces.

:howdy: I'll put my $.02 as a former kid with braces. I had regular braces, not Invisalign. I probably would have liked the Invisalign better, but I wasn't the most responsible kid in the world and I probably would have forgotten to wear them, lost them, etc. I think regular braces are probably much less demanding since you just leave them in. You can still brush, floss, etc. Do you have to brush your teeth after eating before you put the Invisalign back in? If so, that may cause issues for her at school when she eats lunch.
