It's really not difficult. Smartest thing to do is to use dixie cups and label them for the different screws (33 I think). I replaced mine several months ago and it took about 1.5 hrs.

We used a sheet of paper and did a crude layout. Put each screw in its respective (or close to respective) location. Went back together flawlessly.

I used the PhoneDoctors kit, and the included magnetic ScrewMat that had callouts over a picture of the opened phone was a great help. In addition to have both metal and plastic spudgers, and a super clear video on the site, those you can view for free, I was very happy.

4 and 4s, as far as screen replacement goes, are almost identical, except the attachment points for the screen are offset a bit.

My buddy bought an ebay kit, came with the little plastic tools, and screw drivers. No mat. I will say the video from PhoneDoctors was helpful and was what pushed us to draw the phone layout on a sheet of paper. We circled each location and put the screw in the circle. We also labeled numbers, so we could remember which "layer" the screw belonged.
