Some may know this but if you don't its there. I don't have android but for iPhone, go to settings > privacy> scroll to health app and open it. You'll see covid 19 exposure logging.

Just checked my Android. There is a Health app, but says nothing about Covid. There is an update available, but the text there doesn't mention Covid either. But the app does have access to all of the phone sensors and camera.... :twitch:

I have no idea if it was disclosed or not. On the iPhone its probably better called a "setting" then an app. When turned on its states..."iPhone can exchange random ID's with other devices using bluetooth. This enables an app to notify you if you may have been exposed to covid-19. Exposure logging cannot access any data in, or add any data to, the health app".

I saw some info on a site that it is on the androids to, if I can find it again I'll post it.

I have a Device Health App, but it doesn't have anything to do with covid. Do you have a specific App name?

Isnt this the one that is there soley as a bridge if you decide to download and install a contact racer app? Like installing a hitch on your car, you aint towing anything unless you hook up a trailer.

It is a setting that automatically got installed when I updated my iPhone with the latest software update. The setting to turn the track tracing on is hidden so to speak in the health app. I'm not sure where it is located within the Android phones. You may not have it installed depending on when you last updated your phones software. Not sure if you have automatic updates or you manually do it.

Seems so. Apple and Google install it for you, and you decide whether to turn it on. Just making making peeps aware. At least we can choose to turn it on or off but I'm not happy how easy it for them install whatever the hell they want. At least my setting my was "off" by default.

I'll admit I don't pay attention to every detail that comes with a software update, but just goes to show how easy they can slide in "big brother" ways.

Go to settings, Google, and it is right on top "COVID 19 Exposure Notifications". I turned it off, but am not sure if it is actually off or not.

On my android, got to settings-Google-COVID 19 Exposure is at the top of the list. I turned it off to see if that works.

Got it. Didn't think to look there. It was off, but who knows?

And if I read the articles on this correctly, this is just the hardware/software interface. You still need to install an app that reads this data and communicates it to somewhere. But again, this is Goggle, the all powerful, all knowing .....

Yes, you still need an app to make it functional. If you click on the on/off button, this comes up:

I just received a notice on my AT&T Samsung that the MD Dept of Health has an app called MD COVID Alert that gives you notifications of possible exposure. Any idea if this something new or just the same thing discussed months ago?

I've just started getting these "ads" on my Samsung devices. So I think it's something new as far as the MD Dept of Health goes. Well, at least, the push to install is new. I still see no reason to give in to the push....
