Great image. Deadeye, what are you using for IR images?

Rebel Xti with a Life Pixel conversion. The IR blocking filter is removed from the sensor and replaced with a visible blocking filter. Its the Deep B&W one.

It leeks a little visible so there is some color. ( Use this to your advantage )

The mod is tuned to autofocus with the 50mm f 1.8. I used a 15mm fish for this one. To focus pull the ring back about 1/8 inch from sharp in the view finder to get it sharp on the film plane. Every lens is differant . IR is fun and a good bit differant than visible.

In camera meter is off by two stops so you gotta work around that.

Thanks All DeadEye

Is it modified to just IR or did you go with the IR+Visable mod? I saw them when i first got my D50 years ago, it a pretty cool mod.

Its IR only. With the IR and Visible they just remove the hot glass from the sensor. You still gotta use a IR filter screwed to the lens, therefore a black viewfinder that makes focus and composition much more difficult.

It will open new ways to do stuff though. With the IR plus visible you could go the other way. Use a strobe (you speedlight works) with red green and blue gells over it to get mostly IR light on the subject, thus a true IR image and a bright enough finder to compose.

Cheers D.E.
