Iran's Ayatollah: West Abuses Women, Islam Honors Them

" (CNSNews.com) - Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who rules over a nation where men are allowed to have four permanent wives and as many "temporary" wives as they like, declared in a recent lecture to Iranian students that Iran honors women, while the West abuses them.

The ayatollah said one indication of this is that women in Iran are forced to wear the hijab -- clothing that covers much or all of a woman's head, face and body -- while women in the West are not forced to wear it.

In the West's "sensationalism concerning women's affairs, they blame us by saying: You have made hijab compulsory," the ayatollah said in a January 3 lecture to a conference of Iranian students. "They themselves have made lack of hijab compulsory."

I can see that these guys are ready for the 21st. century. There certainly are many types of clothes that make women appear dishonorable, but in the west these women who wear them do so of their own choice and their own free will. In Iran women have no free will, they do what they are told and seemingly like it.

Actually, many upper and middle class Iranian women now wear colorful scarves that only half cover their hair ala Grace Kelly. They would not wear a roosari if they did not have too, but they try to make themselves look as fashionable as possible. Bootleg movies and illegal satellite dishes influence what Iranian women wear more than the Ayatoilets.

You rarely see an Iranian woman in a Western country who is covered.
