I happen to agree with the defendant in this case. What do you think?

I wonder why she even mentioned that she was traveling to England for the procedure, you know? Just go and do it. It reminds me of a situation a friend of mine in the Navy ran into a few years ago. He was transferring back to the States from Japan and was bringing his Japanese girlfriend with him to marry. He repeatedly told her, when you go through immigration you are here for a VISIT. A VISIT! Well, guess what she told immigration? "I'm here to marry my boyfriend". Duh. She was deported and it took her months to get a fiance visa to return.

It's the pro-abortion groups that always seem to find an anencephalic child to press their case for liberalization of health laws. These cases are easlier to win public support for than the "...she was too stupid to use protection...." cases.

I don't think anyone's trying to make a precedent or enact some sort of legislation over this one case. The law should be flexible enough to allow for common sense. She's not asking for Ireland to do anything; just wants to be allowed to fly somewhere on her own dime and do something that her gutless country won't allow.

First I want to start by saying I am Pro-Life, but given these circumstances I see no reason to put a young girl through so much trauma only to have the baby die anyways. With that said, if abortion is allowed if the mother is suicidal then why doesn't she just say she's having suicidal thoughts and is about to kill herself??? Seems simple enough to me.

Heck, if she was in Iran the conservatives there probably would have stoned her to death.

you call yourself civilized when you openly admit you want to kill an entire ethnic/religious group based on the actions of a small percentage of that group?!

you really do need meds.

I do agree with your statement here, but where does the gutless part come in?

Ireland is, by and large, Catholic. The 'gutless' part comes from their fear of the Vatican. Common sense would dictate that this is NOT a cut and dried, black/white issue. You can be pro-life/anti-abortion and still agree that there are some instances that abortion is the only viable solution. This is clearly one of those instances. Rather than step up as a nation, Ireland cowers from the Pope. Making political decisions based on a religious belief is theocracy.
