Iron and vegetarians

watercolor

yeah yeah
Don't know if there are any vegetarians out there, however I need to keep my iron intake up with/without popping extra pills every day. What are some foods that have worked for you? And does Vit C help with the absorption of the iron?

Black strap molasses. If your not "totally" vegetarian mix a tablespoon in a glass of milk or pour it over your pancakes (buckwheat) pancakes. Its strong, but its FULL of iron.

But eat more greens in their rawest form if your able to.

yes, the raw dark leafy greens are the best way to get your iron. I make fruit smoothies and add a handful of kale and spinach. That gives you the iron in it's natural state and the fruit gives you the vitamin C.

That sounds much better than the blackstrap. What are the parts? i.e., amounts of each...

Vitamin C is VERY important in the absorption of Iron.....

You can buy Floradix Iron and Herbs, completely vegan and safe for pregnant women to take. It doesn't taste gross either. Pick it up at any natural foods store in your area.
