is anyone else just a least bit curious why it took a "committee" 2 years to name a school, only to come up with "Evergreen"? Makes me wonder who is the winner of that brain trust!

The BoE needs to be more concerned about the size of the new ES. Anything less than a 700 cap. is ridiculous, and Evergreen is what 640-650?

Isn't the cemetary on Chancellor's Run called "Evergreen Memorial Gardens"?

It's not easy coming up with an innocuous name for a new school.

There are many things to be considered.
1. If you name it after a person, was that person 100% politically correct?
2. It cant have any Indian sounding name or any other name where a mascot could be picked that would not be politically correct.
3.If named after a person, did that person smoke drink or ever have consentual sex with the opposite sex?

Its much easire to go with names of places like Spring Ridge, or easy pithy little names like Evergreen than to face the public after naming it Raephael Semmes Elementary. That one was turned down in Charles County after much dissention.

Ever notice that in Calvert County that the schools are only named for the location that they are in. They do not use peoples names (unless that name is part of the area name: Calvert, St. Leonard......).

Calvert has Patuxent High, but it's not really named for location, should be Lusby High.

It is located in the Patuxent River area. Northern High School was named because it is in the Northern end of the county. All location names.
