Is my router going bad?

My internet keeps dropping (Verizon) and I have to reset it quite frequently. When I check my phone, I have internet. It's a Westell 6100 about 9 years old.

Suggestions?

Probably need a new router, One thing about comcast, they typically send me a note that my router is old and its time to upgrade. They ship me a new router with a return label for the old router. If you call Verizon, they will probably ship you a new router.

Thanks. It's not Verizon equipment. My Dad bought and set everything up for me years ago. I hope I can follow all the cords to put it together correctly.

Up. Identified. Lase. Fire. On the way.
I would get a new modem/router if only for the enhanced router security "stuff." (I'm assuming it's both modem and router).

Really easy. The hardest part is calling Verizon to activate it. And if you have Version do a service call to install one of theirs there's no work whatsoever.

For the record, I always opt for the "getting my own" option (one time cost rather than a rental).

Even if you're not an Amazon customer I would suggest going there and searching for a Verizon-compatible modem/router. Here's an example: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-CM500-1AZNAS-download-Certified-Cablevision/dp/B06XH46MWW

I like Netgear, but there are oodles of other choices.

Best of luck! You can do it! 🏆

Sounds like the problems I had with Verizon DSL, it was not the router/modem, it was on Verizons end. One of their former techs told me that they do not want to invest any money into anything that isn't wireless so it would never be fixed. At that point I decided to go with cable internet.
