Is Nancy Pelosi Bluffing or Did She Cave? Taiwan NOT on Her Asia Itinerary

China was not at all happy about the prospects of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi visiting Taiwan as she had planned. They went so far as to threaten to shoot down her plane if she attempted to land in the contested nation.

The threat may have worked as Taiwan is not included on the itinerary her office released Sunday morning. Is she bluffing? Does she plan on visiting Taiwan anyway but is keeping it secret for security reasons? Or did she cave? According to Fox News:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office announced early Sunday morning that she plans to visit at least four Asian countries during her trip to the region, but a stop in Taiwan was notably left out.
Pelosi is leading a Congressional delegation to the Indo-Pacific region that includes stops in Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan. The trip will center on mutual security, economic partnership and democratic governance in the Indo-Pacific region, her office said in a press release.
"Today, our Congressional delegation travels to the Indo-Pacific to reaffirm America’s strong and unshakeable commitment to our allies and friends in the region," Pelosi said in the release.

Nancy Pelosi is taking a sight seeing trip at our expense.
What the hell is she going to Asia for anyway? Other than to get her ass kissed by those looking for a hand out. There is no reason for a Speaker of the House who will no longer be Speaker of the House after November to be taking this trip. What is her stated reason for going?

And why would the Chinese even give a sht why she is going.?
She is an old addled dementia patient enjoying life on our dime while she and her husband get richer corruptly. I can see no political or military gain for Taiwan coming from Nancy.

Because once she is no longer SotH, she'd have to pay for a trip like that herself. Free vacation.
Agreed: It's merely a free vacation, but she can afford to pay for her own.
IMO she enjoys being fawned over. They will treat her like someone special and kiss her ass, and that is why she is going . To support her ego.

Yes she caved, but somebody's ass needs to be beaten over leaking her agenda in the first place. The White House dropped the ball once it was out there, but someone needs to be held accountable.

But while I GET China's saber-rattling - at least, on the surface, they still regard the island of Taiwan as a renegade part of their own nation even as generation after generation has been born, lived and died during its separation from the mainland - they regard interaction with the nation in much the way England might have regarded France interacting with our patriots during the Revolution. They at least on the surface treat it as consorting with their enemies.

On a very practical level - Taiwan produces something like 90% of our chips - they are as important to us as the oil-producing nations are. China KNOWS we can't ignore them.

But I guess I don't - "get" - this sense of "Taiwan is part of China". I understand why we decided to basically ditch them for the PRC - courting the favor of the PRC in the 70's was a terrifying maneuver intended to - and succeeding in - scare the Soviet Union. THAT is long over. China is no longer a playing card against Russia.

It has always sickened me that Taiwan, a founding member of the UN - was kicked out in 71 because of the PRC. MOST of the world does not officially recognize Taiwan as a nation - and for only one reason, the bullying of China.

IMO it is crazy for a country like ours to be reliant on any country for a product like computer chips.

Computer chips that are vital for our military, and manufacturers.
90% of our computer chips should be made right here, on our soil.

To get into another subject, how stupid is it to go to Green with batteries that need foreign soils to be produced? To destroy thousands of acres of foreign land to produce these soils for American batteries is good for the environment? To have children working to produce the products we need to go green?
And what the hell are we going to do with millions of dead batteries in a few years.? With dead solar panels. with dead windmill propellers?

Now here is a really dumb question.:
I have read and seen video's of them taking down windmills and burying the propellers to get rid of them.
Question: WHY? When the generator of the windmill goes bad can't they replace the generator and use the old propellers again?

Just sneakin' around....

The blades have a life span, and fatigue over time. If the generator were replaced within that lifespan and did not exceed the anticipated life, it could be done.

If the blades were aluminum they could recycle them, but they are composite. You can't recycle or burn them. I suppose you could use them for something like poles for a border fence or something.

I hope she didn't cave. I agree with Newt that she should have taken Kevin McCarthy with her to show the PRC bipartisan support for Taiwan.

prop wear and continued maintenance is a weak link in the turbines... Over in Europe, where there are thousands of blades on offshore turbines, they have already semi-automated blade inspection using drones and are well along to having robots that do the blade maintenance repairs.

I'm more interested in what the #### she's doing going in the first place.

She has no diplomatic duties.

The only reason she would have to go is graft.

you bought this story??? Allegedly we didnt land on the moon. So, just like that, she has her drunk husband drive her to Oriental humantown, and grabs a bite at Changs food, "you go now" with kids in the background singing Communist propaganda songs.... The Golden Gate Bridge is photshopped out.

Nvidia Stock Sales

🔥 Well, it looks like Nancy Pelosi pulled off a $100M insider stock deal in Nvidia Corporation while she was shepherding a massive semiconductor deal through Congress. Perfectly legal, of course. Coincidentally, Nvidia has its largest manufacturing plant in Taiwan, so it would be hard on her portfolio if China invaded or anything. Also coincidentally, according to numerous corporate media sources late yesterday, like CNN, as well as Taiwanese media, Pelosi WILL land on the controversial island sometime this evening.

So many people are tracking flight SPAR19 — Pelosi’s flight — that it shut down FlightAware’s website for a while overnight. Independent reports suggest over half a million people are watching her stupid plane inch around the globe in real time. As of this morning, she’d just left Malaysia, apparently flying East around the South China Sea to approach Taiwan from the South. If she’s going.

Needless to say, there’s a massive military buildup happening in the region.

RedState says she did go to Taiwan:

Obviously this is an optics politics theater thing. Nancy was never in any danger. A deal was made. I've seen this movie before, too.
Dodging sniper fire as she crouched and sprinted to the terminal.
