The claim: says that the NRA got The vast majority of funds—74 percent—contributed to the NRA from “corporate partners” are members of the firearms industry: companies involved in the manufacture or sale of firearms or shooting-related products. Contributions to the NRA from the firearms industry since total between $14.7 million and $38.9 million.

Sure 74% of corporate donors are in the fire arms industry. But they only donated between 14.7 mil to 38.9 mil over the course of 7 years ( to 2011 when the study was published ). So thats 2.1 to 5.7 mil a year. And Forbes reported on this and puts the figure on the lower side of 14.8 mil. Lets average it at $4 mil a year.

The NRA’s overall revenue for 2011 was $233 mil alone let alone the total revenue for the seven years between 2005 and 2011.

Which would place the $4 mil a year corporate contribution right around the 5%

Given that the links in GURPS cut and past job are from 2011...given that the NRA doesn't release member info...given that the links provided in the article don't even use the wording listed in GURPS article...given that the 2015 tax return for the NRA lists $337M of gross revenue of which $25M is from Advertising (who advertises in NRA pubs???), $85M of contributions grants gifts ($20M from related orgs the rest from others), $185M of member dues (at $30 per year, the NRA would have to have over 60M members to generate that kind of dues revenue from individs)...

So yeah...while facts may not lie...the way they are presented often is a lie...and this looks to be just another case of GURPS failing to vet his sources...it is pretty obvious that a large portion of NRA money comes for sources that are not individual dues or the sale of merchandise...

Oh...here is the tax return https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/530116130 click on the 2015 IRS pdf...

Then, of course there is the distinction between the NRA, the NRA Foundation, the NRA political action committees etc...all of which would have separate EINs and income statements...

But hey...why let pesky things like facts get in the way of a good piece of propaganda?

....of which $25M is from Advertising (who advertises in NRA pubs???),

You blew your foot off right there. You've quite obviously never even picked up and looked at an issue of "American Rifleman", for example.

Another spew with little valid content and not one iota of factual rebuttal. Go go gurl!

We always laugh and point at you when you are wrong..as you so often are. Don't change, sweetie.

So are they FACTS AKA The Truth or LIES

the way they are presented often is a lie ...

and here you go off the Rails with Fantasy, Opinion, Supposition and Innuendo

and this looks to be just another case of GURPS failing to vet his sources

sorry sugar tits I didn't write the article ... but considering your analysis is WRONG [as usual]

... it is pretty obvious that a large portion of NRA money comes for sources that are not individual dues or the sale of merchandise...

who cares sugar tits 25 mil is 13.5 % of 185 million or 9.26% if you add 185 and 85 for 270 Mill

ASSUMING all 25 mil in advertising was Gun Manufactures [and it isn't]

but hey keep spinning those facts to fit your political stance

The NRA Industrial Complex

Over 50 firearms-related companies have given at least $14.8 million to NRA according to its list for a donor program that began in 2005.

:cds:

A magazine has advertisements from companies that make products related to the magazine's content? Wow, I can't believe that's isolated to the NRA...

The question also applies if you replace "magazine" with "TV show", "radio show", or "website".

I simply do not care who gives money to the NRA. I am just glad we have an organization that stands up for the 2nd Amendment.
What does Soros spend to fight the NRA?
