Is There A Way To Tell A Cat's Age?

I found my cat YEARS ago. She actually belonged to a neighbor whose Poms chased her out of their yard.

Long story short, the neighbor said, 'keep her if you want,' so I did; but I never found out; and still don't know how old she is. My neighbor couldn't tell me either.

Is there a way to tell a cat's age?

Tartar on the teeth, grey hairs on the coat, coarse coat hair on some older cats, permanent missing claws or teeth. All approximations, the more you find the older the cat +- 2 years.

Just kidding! Cats have little skin bumps behind their ears. You have to cut off a hive and count the rings. Don't worry. They have 8 more.

Tape her tail to her right rear leg. Then wrap her remaining feet in duct tape.

Video tape it and post the youtube link on here.

It might not help with determining her age, but it will help make the day pass quicker.

Also, check for brown specs in the ears. Our older cats would have get that crap when they got older. Also the eyes don't look as youthful, get cloudy, produce more gunk etc, as the cat gets older. But an adult cat between age 2-7 is probably the hardest to spot because all of these will be similar.

Well, my Ribbons isn't pampered or spoiled; although my family will say different; she is mostly an indoor cat; SHARP BRIGHT WHITE canines; loves "crunchy" food; won't touch canned food; full set of claws; walls and furniture to prove it; but she DOES manage to get outside from time to time, so I still don't know what to do about de-clawing her. I prob'ly should, if I ever come into some newer furnishings though. You should see "the number" she did to my fairly new (years ago) love seat. (SHREDDED one arm of it and she's working on the rest of it). /:-\

I have put Scotch tape on her paws and on top of her head before. Funny as H*ll....

It is said that animals don't have facial expressions, but cats seem to speak with their eyes and when I do the tape thing I swear I get a "payback's a b*tch" look.

No no. Not at all. But I grew up on a farm, with tons of cats, dogs, horses, a parrot, an iguana. It was like a shelter. And my mom was practically a vet, so I learned a lot.

i think this happened to my grandfather, but it was either a cat or dog, and it hated him! it would always poop on his pillow everyday!
