Prosecutors said Thursday they will not seek the death penalty against a Marine corporal suspected of killing a 20-year-old pregnant colleague — but only if he is arrested in Mexico.

WTF?

Authorities believe Laurean has fled to his native Mexico.

"This agreement to not seek the death penalty applies only if he is arrested in and extradited from Mexico," said Onslow County District Attorney Dewey Hudson.

Oh, so because he's Mexican, he should be treated differently by our justice system. Okay, I get it.

In other words, normally they wouldn't give an eff but because he's Mexican, they want him to live.

Is this a national holiday or something? National bad idea day?

If they don't agree not to go for the death penalty, Mexico will not extradite him. That is all there is to it.
