There was a thread about some folks going to the HD store in Hughesville but I think it kinda died without a resolution...

If they have any door prizes at the Harley open house today would be the day to go.. we'd be the only ones there.. well, at least the only ones there on bikes.

Since nobody spoke up, I headed to Fredericksburg.. Even with the weather a lot of bikes there, some REALLY good deals on their used bike inventory.. Had to walk out of the "tent" they had a nice K100 (63,000 miles) for $5400 that caught my eye. Did a demo ride in the rain, on a 2007 1200GS.. think the seat was set on it's lowest setting and didn't mess with it before we rode out. Had some problems with my hip cramping up. Other than that, was a nice stable ride, and it corners quick.. just THINK about turning and away you go.. and in the parking lot, went to turn a little to the right to exit the parking lot from a dead stop.. and it turned all the way to the stop. More like riding a bicycle than a 500 lb bike in the parking lot.

Bought me a Kisan Signal Minder (on sale) and man is it nice.. All four of turn signals burn bright as marker lights now, there is a passing lane flash.. five FAST flashes when you hold the turn signal down followed by normal flashes, auto cancelling turn signals.. programmable intensity, and can even be shut off by pressing the turn signal cancel button. Installed it in the Okada parking lot while waiting for them to make my sushi.. took all of about 5 minutes to install and have working. truly plug and play.

Oh, and I bought a motoman hat for lil Nick..

ALMOST bought a new Hi-VIS Yellow Olympia Jacket.. Waterproof without a liner, vented, but not mesh.. longer than my current jacket, yet still compatible with the riding pants. I kept going back again and again to look at it.

Morton's now sells Caberg Helmets. Hopefully they can get me the replacement part I need for my Caberg. no door prizes won by me this year.. that's 2 open houses in a row I haven't won anything..

Rain and all had a great ALMOST 200 mile ride day. Took 218 up nd had a good run, and tried to take it on the way back and got stuck behind a Winnebago the entire 21 miles.. never got out of third gear..

Still a great day of riding.

My turn signals are bright and self cancel and can pass a Winnebago.
If you want to take your bike around anything on 218 be my guest.. I wasn't in a big enough rush to chance getting hit by oncoming traffic. I'd rather putter in 2nd or 3rd than die doing something stupid. Of course puttering in second or third on Sylvia is still moving pretty good, just not as fast as I would have liked..

And apparently the concept of running lights are lost on you? Now instead of just a red running light all by itself on the back, I now have one not so bright red running light, and two additional bright yellow running lights.

I am seriously considering getting those led lights to illuminate my bike....whacha think?

It'll be in red, of course

I picked up and installed the electrical connections turn signal conversion kit on my bike on friday. They have a ring of red LEDs that install inside the housing. The give of a low red for running lights and a bright red for brake lights, and turn themselves off when the run signal lights come on giving the normal yellow for turns. They are working well and give that extra bit of light to those approaching from behind. I'm pleased with the results and they were not too difficult to install.

I forgot you don't have a deluxe touring machine. My Ultra has LED running lights along the bottom of the tourpack and running/brake lights across the back in addition to the red tail/brake light, amber turn signals and 2 spot lights in front.

I guess I could have spent another 10,000 to get the best touring machine on the road, or another 20,000 to get a pretty one like yours. Instead I'll save my money and pay $80 to add running lights to a better performing bike..

They will look good at night but are ILLEGAL to ride down the road with on.
So are loud pipes

...and the lights aren't near as obnoxious, and may actually save a life.

The new "big" thing with the wingers is to replace the stock side trim strips with ones loaded with LEDs. Evidently those seem to be legal but a few illuminating your engine aren't.

Thanks it is pretty aint it? :diva: Damn I just checked and the 1200LT costs more than the "pretty Harley" and it doesn't have running lights either. :yikes: That hydraulic center stand looks nice though. :yay:

Anyway performance is relative when you are following a Winnebego in 3rd gear is't it? :lmao:

Who said anything about the LT? I prefer the RT... performance touring and a lot less money.

But alas, I don't think I'm old enough or decrepit enough to be on any kind of "Touring" bike other than a Sport Touring bike..

Like I said, if you're stupid enough to pass anyone on that road, a Harley would not be my first choice to do it.. What's your bike weigh in at? 800, 900 pounds? How much horsepower?? How fast can you get from 45 to 70? Wouldnt have been a smart move on my bike, and even less smart on yours.

Nope, I'd rather make it home in one piece and get back to BG and Nick.. but you know, we all make our own choices.
