Is your honey safe?

Most honey sold in U.S. grocery stores not worthy of its name – Eatocracy - CNN.com Blogs
Why does it matter where your honey comes from? An earlier Food Safety News investigation found that at least a third of all the honey consumed in the United States was likely smuggled from China and could be tainted with illegal antibiotics and heavy metals.

If China wants to poison themselves, let them, but I'm getting tired of all the crap being imported from there. Impossible to even know where the stuff is coming from today.

If you are NOT going through chemo, then yes, you are safe. The human body CAN fight the minute MY-NOOT "contaminates" in honey. Honey even uses some of them to help fight other things. Why do you think whiskey and honey "cough syrup" is so good for you?

what if it is flower nectar and not honey?

Then it does not belong in THIS thread. You're talking about two different things.

Clover honey is unsafe for chemo patients because it is "raw"; meaning "unprocessed." I know this, because my Dad went through chemo TWICE that I can remember.

I know that flower nectar is part of the honey process.

My son is a honey freak! He can tell clover honey from blueberry honey, etc; it's crazy. Because of him all the honey in our house is purchased from local craft fairs and farmer's markets with no worries of antibiotics or metals. I'm sure he would think I was being remiss if I didn't take this opportunity to say...support Maryland beekeepers! :yay:

Mmmmm me too! I have no less that 7 or 8 different types of honey in my pantry. I always get it from farmers markets, produce stands, and the like. Matter of fact, I have some here at my desk that I got in FL....

Is my Honey safe??? I should certainly hope so. Locks on all the doors, a few guns for defense against intruders. Even had a vasectomy. Yeah, my Honey's safe - just ask her, she'll tell ya.
