Just passing this along...

The St. Mary's County AARP Tax-Aide Program needs a volunteer technology coordinator (computer geek) to work with our computer resources. The work includes upgrading/updating and maintaining our inventory of 20+ laptop computers and printers, installing tax and related programs, and evaluating and implementing new processes for electronic processing of tax returns. Volunteer must be fully conversant with network and wireless technology, comfortable with the Microsoft Office suite of programs, and be available during January training sessions to answer/assist with technical questions. Volunteer does not have to certify as a tax counselor but must become familiar with the technical aspects of the automated tax program. Position requires year-round availability but is busiest October to January requiring intense attention to get equipment ready for the tax season. During tax season the position may require one or two hours a week to respond to e-mail and resolve problems. There is a short busy period following tax season when equipment is collected, evaluated, and reported on. Support resources are constant and at hand, provided by the State Tax-Aide Technology Coordinator.

For more information call Dana Davis, 301-863-2561, or e-mail: djdavis(at)md.metrocast.net.

:yeahthat:

I have to agree with this... Thanks AARP for your assistance in screwing with Medical and Prescriptions....

I was approached by one of these folks looking for support. They are totally clueless on simple networked setups. I told him that what they need is a paid support person. Asking a volunteer to do everything they are asking is a bit much.

Being just retired from this field, I really didn't want to get involved.
