I will be moving this week into a new [to me] house.Just found out yesterday I can't get my DSL there. To make things worse the cable stops about a 1/2 mile from the house.Am I doomed to go back to the dreaded dial up?I understand that satellite service is very expensive. I was told by someone there is a huge [about $600.00]up front equiptment cost, and around 50.00 per month.Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Check out and search for posts on here about Cellular Broadband and broadband card routers. About $70 a month. I use that to get my remote customers working, CLeValley uses it for his home. He can't get cable or DSL either.

I have been using Verizon Broadband wireless off the cell tower for about
18 months. Before that I had dial up because there was no cable or DSL in my area. I looked at the satellite option but got bad reviews from most people that had it because of the latency, cost, down time, customer service, etc.

I have been very happy with the Verizon Broadband usb wireless card.
Only a couple of minor issues that they took care of quickly.

Cable came to my area a few months ago and now I use both.
I still use Verizon as my back up plus It works good in my laptop on the road or out on the pier while fishing.
