It is FINALLY over!!!YEA!!!

It is finally over!!
I weaned my last baby squirrel last night!!!
Today the last 2babies got moved into their weaning cage, complete with a water bottle!!
YEA!!
Baby Season is OVER!!!!!!

Time to pack up all the baby stuff, start my reports, write thank you notes and catch up on sleep!!

Now my days will be filled with trauma....hit buy cars, crashing into cars, windows, trees (for birds)..and the ones who survive being shot by not so good a shot hunters...
Many will not make it...some will!!
The juvenile red tail hawk, a nice guy tried to save, had to be put to sleep..had a huge hole in its chest from an aerial fight with another hawk...
Got a red headed vulture in, delivered by Animal Control..had to be euthanized...compound fracture of the forearm, would never fly again.
Just the beginning of trauma season.

So the days grow shorter and the patient load drops off...just have a bunch of squirrels that will winter over and be released in April.

But baby season is now offically over.

Many, many thanks to all of the SOMDers who helped with wildlife and who I got to meet to rescue a baby from them. You guys are the best!!!
