that pushed Hitler to national attention. The regional justices allowed him to make solliloquies and go at length into personal philosophy and the grievious treatment of his fellow Bavarians. After a crime that deserved death, he emerged a hero less than two years later with a new book under his arm.

why the history lesson???

But Hitler survived the trial and punishment phase. Saddam may survive the trial, but the punishment phase in a Muslim country can be a bear.

Does he have to attend? Aren't his constant tirades a contempt of court? Can't he just sit in some room with the trial televised to him and a camera (without sound) televise him back to the courtroom? Wouldn't it be great if they told him next time he walks out is an automatic conviction? (I know, no law in place, but it would be grand.)

They seem to be too afraid of this guy.

I don't know why they don't bring him in, in jammies and chains.

I think they are playing to the world. They are trying very hard to give him a fair trial rather than trot him out a whack him.

I thought it was the fact that he slow-roasted 6 million people over an open flame, and took over half of Europe.

History buff aren't you? NOT.
The operative word is "national".

Hessian is referring to Hitler's "formative" years, prior to WWII.

It is LONG since time...

...Saddam choked to death on a chicken bone.

Obviously there is intimidation going on and this freaking trial is taking too long.

Accident time says I.

Maybe let some kid who lost his parents to this thug 'sneak' a nine past the guards and get up close and personal.

Viola. Case dismissed. New national hero.

T'was merely a joke.
T'was hard to tell since I was not the only one to comment on your post.

Speaking of nines, the U.S. forces are going back to .45 as the standard (not 1911); nines do not hit hard enough.

I didn't say it was a good joke.

And I get that in real life a lot too. I will admit that my sense of sarcasm is often entirely too dry and many people don't catch it.

Such is my burden.

...funny how combat reality messes up board room theory.

Of course, if they REALLY wanted to hit hard with a sidearm...

Yup, I think that's exactly what is going on. But I think it's more for the Iraqi people than the world. To show tham that they do have a choice.

Sarcasm rarely works on the forums. Not enough context and no facial expression. Hense, our wonderful admin gave us the :sarcasm: smiley.

Yeah, but a .50AE would be too much for most. :lmao: And a DE is a bit heavy.

Heck, most don't like the recoil from a .44 Rem Mag.

The FBI had to cut back from a 10mm to the .40 S&W because the female agents could not handle the recoil from the 10mm.
