My sister-in-law is from a huge Italian family. No celebration is a small one. I can't understand a word, but I love the chaos!

Not the "I'm half italian" People?
I am Italian, Sicilian on both sides. Been to Italy twice, but not to Sicily. Beautiful country! I spent a great deal of time in Tuscany on the coast. PM me if you wish.

My grandfather was a boat person...1920. My grandma's parents were boat people. I loved the way they yelled and gestured at each other, you could never tell if it was mad or romantic.

My grandfather was Calabrese. The mafia was/is big there and they were the ones who got him passage to the States. He had a godfather in Albany, New York that he visited. We aren't even sure grandpa's last name was right as letters got twisted around in immigration. He ended up as a Melito but we think it was Mileto to start.
Calabria is a very poor part of Italy so most of the family moved long ago.
