I'm going to remember Arafat as not just a terrorist, but also as a cynical operator who manipulated the aspirations of the Palestinians to further his own power. He rejected the offer of a Palestinian state on the West Bank because he insisted on the idiotic idea of "right of return." As I understand it, he was talking about the Palestinians who fled to the West Bank and Siani after the first Israeli-Arab War in 1947. I don't think it's realistic for them and their descendants to expect to return home after all this time. I think Arafat only made that demand to keep the conflict going, because the status quo ensured that his power would continue.
