"Speaking with Candy Crowley on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-K.Y.) defended his opposition to President Obama’s now dead jobs bill, saying that the federal government should instead focus on decreasing regulations.

Senate Republicans, joined by three conservative members of the Democratic caucus, defeated that $35 billion package last week, which aimed to hire or retain teachers and emergency responders. And Democrats will surely trumpet their recalcitrance as we head into 2012.

Yet McConnell spun the issue in a different light, telling Crowley that saving emergency responders from unemployment shouldn’t be a federal responsibility because we can’t afford “to be bailing out states.” "

Exactly. Unless the means are created to KEEP these jobs in place, which would normally be funded by the states anyway, there are two options - the government funds them or the states do, and since they can't - it means in another year, they're back to square one.

Since next year is an election year, it's completely obvious why they want this jobs bill - to buy themselves one more year.

This isn't a save the jobs bill - it's a "Save MY Job" bill, and it squares perfectly with the outrageous claims made by our vice President, who is clearly in full panic mode. Pass the bill, because if you stop and think, you'll see us scrambling for cover. We've done nothing in almost three years to create jobs, but dammit, THIS time we really mean it.

Really, its NOT like the Federally government has 15 trillion in debt, that it needs to pay off, its needs to throw more money down the toilet spending on things that is NOT suppose to be spending on, that has proven the first 2 times Obama and Dems have done it recently, it doesn't work.

Its almost like they put their own success over that of the country, and depend on useful idiots to parrot their emotional arguments in an cynical attempt to fool the ignorant.
