"Did you ever sign to or agree to anything that said I will not eat pork?" Holfeld asked Morales.

"Never," Morales said. "When I got hired there, they said we don't care what religion you are."

It'll be interesting how this plays out.

The Koran forbids Muslims from eating pork. And according to Kweli, Morales and every employee at the company is advised of the no pork policy.

"Our point of view is to respect the laws of the land and the laws of the land as I understand it is to the accommodate people's right to practice their religions if you can," Kweli said.

She's Catholic not Muslim.

This is a country that cherishes freedom of religion AND the freedom to hold demonstrations...speak our minds, protest..etc.

What is crucial is instead of running to the courts and waiting three years for some decision...it can be decided in the court of public opinion.
Boycott. And if they think that is unfair...they can leave, nothing is stopping them. That is the way it has always worked in this country.

Blacks boycotted the Transit system because it was unfair to them. They endured, bonded, and broke the back of the Bus system. So...

We don't think this women has to kneel to your fanatical beliefs.
Have a Great big BBQ, spread some literature and break their finances.
See ya...but dont go away mad...have a rack of ribs first:cheers:

Okay...

What does the Koran say about a non-muslim person eating the pork?

Religious discrimination is wrong, no matter who is doing the discriminating. It would be just as wrong if she was a Muslim working for Christian bosses and she was fired for not eating pork.

Tonio...where do you get your analogies from?

Christians who founded this country were very discriminating..even against different sect of Protestantism (quakers, shakers, Baptists etc.

However, as modern Christianity has become more divergent...and tolerant...you pull a weird analogy out. We'd fire someone for not eating pork? Huh?

Let me be clear: we hold our truths to be very dear. We will fire people who sign an agreement saying they'd avoid alcohol, adultery, drugs, homosexuality, etc...because
a) They breached the agreement.
b) They are a bad example to the kids we teach.
c) This behavior is self destructive.
There may even be doctinal issues that we feel are divisive, or contrary to scripture. But those things are spelled out in our contracts.

Our culture was once based on using common sense to avoid things that would threaten our unity, our health, and our relationship with God...apparently not any more.

Do we discriminate: you bet.
Does it work? Yes
Are people fired for trivial things: NO

and yes...we have barbeque on Fridays.
