Unless I'm mistaken, the iTunes format is MP3 (don't have it or use it). You should be able to find the original song on your disk and write it to the CD. If you make a "data disk", the MP3 will stay intact and you'll need and MP3 compliant player. If you create a "music disk", the MP3 files will be converted to CD file format on-the-fly and playable as a normal CD.

Hi, I use Itunes to purchase allot of my music. If you go into your advance setting in Itunes you can actually download the songs you buy in MP3 Format. You will just have to change the settings. Next all your music that is already downloaded, In Itunes if you right click their is a option to convert the file to MP3 and then you can burn it to a cd. Good Luck!

I solved the problem by buying tunes from amazon.com instead of iTunes Store. Amazon may be a dime cheaper/song and the MP3 downloads are not copy protected like those from iTunes.

You can't just convert MP4 to MP3.

It's protected. Proprietary format from Apple.

You need a converter like the one above.

You can in settings change the format that is downloaded to your comp. I always download as MP3. This allows me to transfer songs without the hassle of converting.

Another irritating thing about MP4. You can only 'unlock' the song 5 times for use on other comps running itunes.

Worse comes to worse. If you need to convert some songs - you can always 'burn' an audio cd then re-import (rip) the songs as MP3s.

this is one reason I hate iTunes. Why do you have to work so hard to get something you paid for =/

I agree. It's an inconvenience.

But, one easily fixed by changing your preferences to download all songs in MP3 format.

I use iTunes because it's easy to get songs you want. You can preview songs. Podcasts are pretty nice too.

Actually, it's like that with most every MP3 player. Zune, for example, goes thru the process of converting any and all videos into WMV format. Even if it's in WMV format, it adds it's own tags so incase you send it wirelessly to another Zune, they can only play it three times before they have the option to buy it or delete it. It's a real hassle, but if you think about it, it's an ingenious way to prevent piracy.
