Is there a way I can play my library at work? I have my adapter, and it's plugged into my iPod. I can see my library, but I'm not able to click on any of the songs. Do I need to 'authorize' computers from my home computer first?

If you have NMCI....and find a way...PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW YOU DID it.. We have a few straight computer nerds where I work, and none of them could figure it out...

Now, we did find a way to copy them off of my MP3 player, and then convert all the songs....but, it would be much easier if I could just hook up and go for it....but NMCI wont let me load all the software I need to burn songs on my comp, then transfer them to my mp3 player...which blows...haha...

I have a set of cheap speakers I plug into mine. You have to install the software for the library to work. :ohwell:

I am pretty sure that all the downloaded songs reside on the harddrive that you used while downloading. If your harddrive crashes and you haven't saved your music files to some form of auxilary backup device, you are screwed. One reason to be sure to download them all to your iPod if you have no other means of doing an external backup.

I have everything installed, however; I'm not actually able to play my "playlist/library" from work. I've heard you have to "authorize" computers for this, but I don't know for certain. I listen to my iPod with my headphones on, but I'd rather be able to listen via computer (streaming). :ohwell:

I downloaded the songs at home. I'm at work now, and I downloaded iTunes. I can see every song in my playlist, I'm just not able to "play" them. They are not highlighted. My question - how do I get them to play?

This is not a hard question, folks. :banghead:

You can't play them if they are not on your iPod already. Your iTunes library may reference the songs, but your song files RESIDE ON YOUR PC AT HOME so they can't be executed FROM YOUR WORK PC. If you wanna listen to them at work DOWNLOAD THEM TO YOUR IPOD FROM YOUR HOME COMPUTER.

Does that help?

They are on my iPod. I just figured that I'd be able to listen to them at work with my adapter/connector. Kinda' like importing them or something. :ohwell:

I would think the only way you could listen to them from your work PC would be to download them from your iPod to your work PC.

You and me both. All I want to be able to do is listen to my iTunes while at work, without having to use earphones with my iPod. :banghead:

Ctygirl, where are you? :tap:

The authorization requirement is only for music you bought on the itunes store. You are limited to 5 authorized pc's at one time. If you have an available authorization, when you try to play the song for the first time on a new computer, it should ask for your itunes store loggin and password. I believe you need internet access for it to work. Without the authorization, it will not play. Here is more info.

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93014

Also, be careful about connecting your ipod to a pc with itunes that is not authorized and has auto sync turned on, because it has been known to erase your ipod memory. I always turn off auto sync as soon as I install itunes.

If you want an easy way around this authorization stuff. Just take all the songs you bought from itunes store (they are protected aac files), and write them to music cd's. Then copy them back down as mp3 files. The only down side, is you can only fit about 15 songs on a music cd, so you many need a few blank cd's if you have alot of songs.

i hate ITunes especially with 5,000 MP3's(ok thats out of the way).

The IPOD was designed to have tunes put on it, but not to have tunes pulled from it (and put on another 'puter). ITunes used to allow you to download songs off yer IPOD onto another 'Puter but Apple removed that feature in ITunes 4.7xxx (to protect against illegal file sharing)

there is a plugin you can get for ITunes that will allow you to remove songs off the IPOD and put on another 'Puter. not sure if i can post it on here (not entirely sure its legal) but if you do a google search for Itunes Plugins you should be able to find something

Logitech mm50 Speakers

I picked mine up @ BJs for $109 on 01/02. It has an internal rechargeable battery that lasted me my entire 10 hour shift @ work. It also has an AC adapter so you don't have to run off the battery and it'll charge your iPod @ the same time. Comes w/ a nice case for transport and a cute little remote. :yay: :yay:
Very cool - thanks for the link! A little more than I wanted to spend, but I might just consider it. :yay:

Sorry Chasey, I was wayyyy out in Chantilly today.

You can only play your tunes from the one location (home computer). iTunes is tricky like that and will not allow replication due to copyright laws.

Buy a speaker set (will run you $150 at least), or use the iPod headphones at work...
