In an interview with The Washington Post’s “fact checker,” former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper contends that Politico misled the public about a letter he and 50 other former intel officials signed during the 2020 presidential campaign warning that the New York Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story could be Russian deception. “There was message distortion,” Clapper tells The Washington Post. “All we were doing was raising a yellow flag that this could be Russian disinformation. Politico deliberately distorted what we said. It was clear in paragraph five.”

It was not clear, at all. The purpose of the letter, apparent then as it is now, was to discredit the Post’s scoop and provide Democrats and the media with ammunition to reject it. Of course intel officials couldn’t definitively say that Hunter’s emails, which implicated Joe Biden as a business partner, were concocted by Putin’s spooks. They had no access to the laptop. The purpose was to enlist former intel chiefs to cast doubt on the story. A perfunctory CYA paragraph doesn’t change anything.

James Clapper’s newest ‘disinfo’ on Hunter’s laptop​

James Clapper just can’t tell the truth. The onetime National Intelligence chief is blaming the media over the now-infamous October 2020 letter suggesting Hunter Biden’s laptop was a Russian fake. Who waits 28 months to set the record straight?

“Politico deliberately distorted what we said,” mewls Clapper on behalf of all 51 intel community “experts” who signed the missive. Bull. The letter got read exactly as they intended.

Clapper et al. claimed, with zero proof but plenty of weasel words, that the device had “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.” And anyone with the media experience of these “experts” would’ve expected Politico to then firmly declare the laptop “disinfo.”

The signers wanted the “laptop is disinformation” narrative to bloom, and so protect Joe Biden in the 2020 race.

Now that Hunter’s lawyers have blown up the disinfo claims by admitting the laptop was his (as was obvious from the start), the slimy spooks’ only way out is playing the victim.

Cue widespread fury. Plainly, if Politico “distorted” their letter, Clapper & Co. had a duty to speak up then. Especially as the “distortion” was amplified by other high-profile Dems such as Jen Psaki, Susan Rice and prez candidate Joe Biden. They didn’t.

He can't stop lying because if he does he'll be sent to a federal prison with all his besties (like Nikki Haley). He has to keep up the lie.

Think about it. The Democrats and their media minions, along with a good number of Republicans, cheated and broke the law stole a United States presidential election. Literally pulled a coup on a sitting President. And if you object, they'll throw you in prison. That is happening in this country right this very minute.

Actually, I don't know why Clapper/Brennan/Haley/et al even bother to lie. They could simply go, "Yeah, and so? What are you gonna do about it that won't get you imprisoned for life without bail or trial?"
