You could try reading up on the condition of slaves or just use your imagination, because you know the slaves were whipped and brutalized, and the women violated, and their children abused, and many slaves got them selves killed or worse in trying to escape their bondage.
When one says some horrible claim as you do above then what are we to think of you? as only a white mentality could believe such a barbaric thing.

Actually when you speak of slavery, don't limit it just to blacks. Every race, religion or ethnicity of people have been slaves sometime in history.
I have read on the conditions, looked at research, and I'd say you apparently haven't.
Generally speaking slaves (again throughout history) were an assett. TO toruture or abuse an asset so they couldn't work wouldn't much make sense would it? Be kind of like owning a car, and slashing the tires, kind of defeats the purpose of having one. Granted some owners are ignorant enough to do just that, but overall most would see the value in care and maintenance of said property. What purpose would serve to cut the feet off a worker? Now he becomes a liablility and not an assett..
Slavery was the closest thing to socialism this country has had, at least to the current day, only instead of the government doing the cradle to grave care it was the owner. They were totally dependent on their owners for food, shelter, medical care.. starting to sound familiar? You make them dependent enough they won't care to escape.
And yes, slaves tried to escape, some were successful, but how many? What were the percentages of those trying to escape, and why would you say those numbers were so low? If conditions were so bad (and no, i wouldn't want to live under the same conditions) why weren't there uprisings? Why didn't they kill their masters? Oh wait, I know the answer to that one.. Because their masters were the only ones allowed to be armed.. they had the GUNS!! Is this also starting to sound familiar? Another right the Democrats don't want their subjects to have.
But even without guns, if you believe the stories, there were hundreds of slaves on a plantation being guarded by how many with guns? How bad would it have to be before you pull together and say.. "Lets take control!" I mean, it's happened throughout history.
What bothers me, is now we have a Black President, and he's as racist, if not more racist against his own race. What has he done to rid the country of the projects, or "Minority Reservations?" Not a thing.. He's trying to make them even MORE dependent on the government.
Maybe you are the one that needs to read and do research..
Slavery was bad, but what they (general term with no regard to a particular race) have now isn't much better, and in some regards even worse.
