A spokesperson admitted that the messages Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA.) showed during the hearings had been adjusted to support the idea that Meadows wanted former Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the election results.

In a statement, the spokesperson confessed that “the Select Committee on Monday created and provided Representative Schiff a graphic to use during the business meeting quoting from a text message from ‘a lawmaker’ to Mr. Meadows. The graphic read, 'On January 6, 2021, Vice President Mike Pence, as President of the Senate, should call out all electoral votes that he believes are unconstitutional as no electoral votes at all.' In the graphic, the period at the end of that sentence was added inadvertently. The Select Committee is responsible for and regrets the error."

Jordan fired back saying “this committee has altered evidence and lied to the American people about it, so much so that they had to issue a statement which says, 'We regret the error,' which is government speak for, 'We got caught lying.’”

The “error” was that Schiff presented the message out of context by cutting out key words and ending it with a period.

According to the Federalist, the original text message was a summary of a legal briefing Jordan forwarded from lawyer Joseph Schmitz to Meadows the day before the Capitol protests, meaning that a "lawmaker" did not write the message at all.

I've seen the viewership totals - with possibly the exception of MSNBC, viewership for the slots it's being aired has dropped substantially, even when the previous week's show was a re-run. They boasted that some 19 million out of 330 million people watched it - yeah, spread across 12 networks, and like a fifth of them was all MSNBC. I think it's no surprise the major networks aren't carrying more of it.

Basically, it would appear this is a great big yawn from the country. I agree. There's a big part of me that is thinking, as I suppose so very many are -
"Didn't we DO this already? Didn't they impeach Trump just days before he left office? Wasn't it all pointless to try and remove a man from office, when he is already leaving? And they didn't have the votes - AGAIN? Didn't they arrest those guys?"

"So - what is the damned point? Can I get back to my re-runs? Why can't you run this chit on some other channel?".

Heck, to me, the Depp/Heard thing was more interesting, and I didn't watch that at all.

Again - what the heck is the damned point? Accuse Trump? You did that already. Is there going to be a Season 2 and 3? Jeez, give it up.

Yes, trying to whip up the base and make people angry. But they’re also trying to raise money off of all this.

Raskin has appeared in a number of DCCC political ads asking for donations while speaking about the Democrats’ investigation into Jan. 6, according to Axios.
Longtime Democratic digital strategist Murshed Zaheed told Axios that the emails will boost campaign donations from the activists within the base who are most likely to give money but won’t do much to former President Donald Trump legally.
“It’s unclear how much of it to actually move the needle in holding Trump accountable,” Zaheed told Axios. “The primary purpose of it is going to be fundraising for a lot of the Democratic Party institutions and establishments.”
Other Democratic committees have tied fundraising appeals to the televised hearings, including the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee and the Democratic Association of Secretaries of States, the outlet reported.
Defending Democracy Together Institute recorded the Democrat super PAC, American Bridge, sending over 70 fundraising emails since May using the phrase “insurrection,” reported Axios.

So that’s the bottom line here. They have nothing, yet they’re trying to soak the base. And when they deliver nothing, just like with Russia collusion, their base is going to turn on them like wolves and eat them alive. They just ensured themselves even more anger, come November.

I was a teenager during all the Watergate stuff. I didn't understand much of the details - heck, when I heard "plumbers" I thought they were actual plumbers. I remember two things - they were endless and boring - and it was obvious their only purpose was to bring down the President. As politically uneducated as I was then - THAT much was clear.

This theater - it makes little sense. For one thing, the nation's economy, the stock market, everything is falling around our ears, and these dumb effers are STILL going after Trump. Chasing a boogeyman in the vain hope of quashing Trump's return to the White House. Publicly chuckling that he'll never be back, but openly BEHAVING like, they're terrified that he WILL.

We so desperately need them to fix what's broken - and the best they can do is say either - it's actually better than you think - or - Putin, and there's nothing we can do about it. Like, maybe even stop the war. Or win it. Nope, nothing we can do. Sorry.

Unless there's a change IN THE COUNTRY - the Dems lose the House in November. With only a 4 seat advantage in the House in a mid-term, they're historically already doomed. They want to turn the mood against the GOP by finding an issue, a news item, SOMETHING. And they don't get that if people are paying 9 dollars a gallon for gas in November, they will be lucky if there's a single Democrat in the House at all.

Right now, according to RCP, according to the polls, the Republicans have ALREADY taken the House. Their graphic shows solid, likely, leaning, tossup - and the red area is already well past the majority. Worse, almost all of the tossups are in blue - meaning, at minimum the GOP takes the House with a 17 seat lead, but it may be a LOT worse.

The Senate is where they MAY lose, and all of the Senate seats likely to switch are getting worse each day. Governor's races are even more so - the GOP already has half without a sweat, but of those that are tossups - all but two are Democrats.
