Possible Connection Between Dahmer & Adam Walsh
(AP) MILWAUKEE The FBI agent assigned to investigate Jeffrey Dahmer's horrendous crimes believes a possible connection to the murder of Adam Walsh in 1981 should be re-examined.

WISN-TV reports there are new questions about Dahmer's criminal history in Florida before he returned to Milwaukee. The questions are raised in a new book by Miami author Arthur Jay Harris. He started looking at the Walsh case after a legal ruling opened the ten-thousand-page Walsh file to the public.

Six-year-old Adam vanished from a a shopping mall in the Miami suburb of Hollywood July 27th of 1981. His head was found in a drainage canal, two weeks later. His body was never found.

Dahmer was living in south Florida when the boy disappeared. And when the trail of Dahmer's notorious crimes unfolded in 1991, Hollywood police asked Milwaukee investigators to question Dahmer about the Walsh case.

Milwaukee Detective Dennis Murphy says Dahmer repeatedly denied killing Adam. Murphy says Dahmer had been forthcoming about his other crimes.

Retired FBI agent Neil Purtell says Dahmer was a talented liar, and given the evidence that Harris uncovered, it's time to re-open the Walsh case with a team of seasoned investigators. Adam's father, John Walsh, agrees. He told WISN that Dahmer became a suspect years ago when Dahmer's father, Lionel, called "America's Most Wanted" and told them he though Jeffrey might be responsible for Adam's slaying.

I was reading about that yesterday. It wouldn't surprise me. That man was beyond nuts.

It wouldn't surprise me either but Adam was only 6. Jeffrey liked 'em a bit older AFIK.

His youngest victims were 14, so it is plausible that in his earlier years he hadn't established a specific pattern yet.

Could be...that's why I said it wouldn't surprise me. Everything written about Dahmer though, and said by him, leads me to believe he liked them to have reached puberty.

:notworthy: Or good ol' Ottis Toole. :yay:
Actually, I'd just say Toole would be a better candidate than Dahmer. If I had to pick, I'd say it was neither and just some random sick-o. The infamous killers don't kill 'everyone'.

Honestly, I think you are right. Someone random. Toole confessed but then recanted. IMO he just wanted the attention of AMW at the time of the confession, then thought better of it.

Whomever it is, I hope it's been caught on some other charge at least. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that it still roams with other closet deviants.

Well, it has been nearly 26 years since Adam was killed. If the guy was any kind of regular criminal, and certainly he would have to be, he probably was caught for something. Of course, by now, he may dead for any number of reasons.

Unfortunately, there is no shortage of them.

My current boss used to work for the Feds and he was discussing this last week. It seems to have been a theory held by a lot of Feds.

He's depressing with some of the stuff he tells me.

Actually, the America's Most Wanted team released a statement from John Walsh which basically said this was an old allegation that surfaced years ago. It has been investigated but no connection was ever found to Dahmer. Walsh still believes Ottis Toole was in fact responsible, though never charged for it (he ended up dieing in prison while serving for other crimes). Since the case was never closed though, he still believes any leads should be investigated.
