Passed away on Sunday. Oldest worked there for several years in high school and after he graduated. Never had a bad thing to say about the guy.

I just passed that info to my Mom, Ginger Cove will be sad today.
She met Jerry long ago in Landover?, her and my sfather would stop in on a Friday or Saturday night and share a martini, with they couldn't afford to eat at his place then.
I will say everytime that I went to his restaurant in Calvert and my mother wasn't with me, he would always ask how she and my father were doing. Great guy with an amazing memory.

I am so very blessed
I had known him for 50+ years, he had a stroke about 2,3 years ago and was just a shadow of his outgoing self for the last few years.
I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. :huggy:

Whenever we've gone to his restaurant, we've loved the food, and appreciated his friendly hospitality.

Took my mom and dad there. She said it was the best crabcake she ever had. Also the last.

Following day she was taken to the ER and didn't come home (unrelated to the food....). Bittersweet, glad she enjoyed the meal.

At least she had a great last meal. We should all be so lucky.

He was a wonderful person. One of the nicest gentlemen I have ever met.

I always enjoyed eating at his restaurant. He was always so cordial and honest. He even admitted that his crabcakes were made with Venezuelan crab meat, as it wouldn't have been fair to the wallets of his customers to sell local. He would end the converations by asking if I had tried a certain appetizer on the menu and then bring out a sample of it on the house. I never left Jerry's unsatisfied with the food or the service. He was one of a kind.

Oldest couldn't get off work to go to his services but did stop by the cemetery after everyone had left to lay some flowers on the grave and pay his respects. Said he cried a little. Recalled a few stories from his years of working at the restaurant and told him he'd be missed greatly.

Decades ago when I was doing catering in northern Virginia, we used Asian processed crab meat. It made a decent final product. I recently bought some Phillip's crab claw meat. That was the only fresh, cleaned crab available. Not much taste to it though. I forgot where they got those crabs from. But certainly not the Chesapeake Bay.
