Have you ever been there? Would you like to go?

I've never been there, but I can honestly say that with the climate over there being so hostile, I have no intentions of going any time soon. One of my co-workers has gone with a church group twice though. Much braver than I.

Travel slogan for Israel:

"Visit Isreal - it's a blast!"

Reminds me of this.

:yeahthat: I would love, love, love to travel to the Middle East and Africa (specifically Egypt), but there's no way. I have a child who needs a mother more than I need to see the world.

That was too funny. It would be fun to see the world but I agree not with the way things are over there. Americans stand out like a sore thumb.

No and No.

If planning a trip, be advised that our media is sending us a message that only a tiny minority of Muslims actually support the use of violence against Israel and the West. I suggest reading The Jerusalem Post:

Interesting article. I gleaned that between ~25 and ~70% of various Muslim populations in England, the Middle East, and elsewhere agree with terrorist bombings. Not what I would call a small minority.

I have traveled extensively in the Northern Hemisphere. Only place in the Middle East I have been to is Turkey. I have narrowly escaped being on planes or in airports that were hijacked, gunned, or bombed shortly (hours to a day or two) before or after I was in them or on the flight. Makes you think.

Even so, I would like to see Israel and Jerusalem. I would also like to get south of the equator. But, alas, my rich "Uncle" no longer pays me to travel.

It is not fear of death that bothers me. Everyone dies. It is just graduation day for Christians. But I do want Sharon to be well taken care of. She's the best.

I have been to Israel 7 times. While I spent most of my time in Tel Aviv (about a month each time) I did go to Jerusalem at least twice each visit. The old city is quite remarkable. Open markets, the scent of spices in the air. Very intriguing place.

I don't know whether I'm ever going to make that trip, but I think it would be awesome to walk the same steps Our Lord travelled on, to see the the sights that He viewed.

To look over the places along the Jordan River where John the Baptist preached and brought salvation to so many.

Yeah, that would be cool.

I've been in 2000. My ship pulled into Haifa for three days and me and some friends took a day trip there. Saw Bethleham, the Church of the Nativity, then Jerusalem and the Church of the Holy Seplechure. The tour then went through the streets of Jerusalem (I think it was called the stations of the cross or something) and we ended at the Garden of Gethsemene (sp?).

Oh and along the path was the "Holy Rock Cafe".
