Anybody else watch it last night? I thought it was amazing and John Legend as Jesus was awesome. And Alice Cooper as King Herod was a heck of a surprise!

Guess this means no Timeless episode on my DVR when I get home.

Jesus Christ Superstar has just - I don't know - worn out for me. And it's not that I find it blasphemous or anything.
When it came to stage, I had the album and knew all the words.
When it came to theaters I watched it five times.

But over time - I don't know - Jesus is whiny, Judas is annoying, the apostles are idiots.
I realize that characters like Herod are meant for comic relief, even though in real life he was rather fearsome -
but there's just barely a single redeeming character in the whole story.

I used to love the Gethsemane song - but - again, whiny Jesus pleading to a petulant God who just can't wait
to put him on a cross. In front of Pilate, he's fatalistic.

And it ends with him on a cross - instead of leaving an empty tomb, which is what makes
Christianity have any relevance.

I'm not offended by it, I guess it just bores me now.
