John 12:17 Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. 18 Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him. 19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!”
20 Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the festival. 21 They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. “Sir,” they said, “we would like to see Jesus.” 22 Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus.
23 Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. 25 Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
27 “Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name!”
Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” 29 The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.
30 Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit, not mine. 31 Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. 32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” 33 He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.
34 The crowd spoke up, “We have heard from the Law that the Messiah will remain forever, so how can you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this ‘Son of Man’?”
35 Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. 36 Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.

Here's the link to the commentary I read. I would also suggest that you read the story of Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey. We all know that story right?
Sir, we wish to see Jesus: These Greeks had heard of Jesus, perhaps of His reputation as a teacher and worker of miracles. What they did know of Jesus made them want to know more about Him, so they came to Philip (the one disciple with a Greek name) asking to see Jesus.
The hour has come: At least twice before Jesus said that the time was not ready (John 2:4 and 7:6). He took this seeking interest of Gentiles as the signal that now the hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified.
He who loves his live will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it: We are called to hate our life not in the sense that we disregard it, but in the sense that we freely give it up for God. Our life is precious to us, especially because it is something we can give to Jesus.
And what shall I say? “Father, save Me from this hour?” Knowing this was the crucial hour Jesus could not ask to escape the hour, because He knew that for this purpose I came to this hour. The cross, which had cast a shadow over the entire life and ministry of Jesus, would now become a reality in the experience of Jesus.
Then a voice came from heaven: This was the third audible Divine testimony to Jesus’ status as the Son of God, after the Divine voice heard at His baptism and His transfiguration.
I have both glorified it and will glorify it again: This was assurance from God the Father. Approaching the cross, the great concern of Jesus was to glorify the Father, and He was assured that He already had and would continue to do so.
Now is the judgment of this world: The spirit of this world was judged by the way it treated Jesus at the cross. The cross not only judged the world it also defeated Satan (now the ruler of this world will be cast out). The defeat of the world (culture in opposition to Jesus) and Satan was God’s victory and the victory of the people of God.
We have heard from the law that the Christ remains forever: The people had been taught only the passages from the law (the Old Testament) which spoke of the triumph of the Messiah. They were mostly unaware of the passages that spoke of His suffering (such as Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53). It made them wonder if Jesus was really the Messiah, the Son of Man.
A little while longer the light is with you…While you have the light, believe in the light: Jesus assured them that He would be with them only a short time longer. The light of His earthly ministry was about to go out.

We are reading from Daniel, through John's Gospel and John's letters, and Revelation, also penned by John. John the Apostle was Jesus' best human friend. For those of you who are new to Christianity.... this is written by John the Apostle, not John the Baptist. John the Baptist was Jesus' cousin. He was a Baptist. He was an Evangelist before it was cool! He would Baptize people in the river and tell them all about Jesus. However, John the Apostle is writing about Jesus and we're getting into the last chapters of the Gospel of John.
Yep... I left out the donkey story. Jesus didn't walk into Jerusalem. He rode a donkey. There are lots of children's stories about this one. At any rate, the people who were "worshipping" Jesus when the donkey carried Him into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, were the people who had come to Jerusalem to see Jesus. After all, they believed, if this man Jesus could bring Lazarus back from the dead [4 days stinky in the tomb dead] then He must be the Messiah. They were there to see Jesus the Messiah.
Look at verse 19. The public loved Him.... the Pharisees, well they were in a pickle. How do you arrest a man when the majority just adore Him????
Now, check out verse 28. Jesus talked to God about "His hour on earth" and God answered!!!!
Jesus wasn't ready when Mary ordered Him to change the water into wine. Jesus wasn't ready when His earthly family was off to the feast of the tabernacles. Now, he had to be ready. There was no place to hide. Everyone knew about Him.
Jesus knew the Pharisees and the Sadducees were looking for Him. He knew they wanted Him dead. That's the only way they could prove He was never the Messiah. They could claim He was just a fluke or a magician. They could even claim He was Satan himself, if He was dead. No one would dare argue with them then. Things could get back to normal.
Jesus brought Lazarus back from the tomb. People saw it and spread the word. There was no going back. He was famous from Jerusalem to Greece and probably further.
As far as the people were concerned, Jesus must be the Messiah they were waiting for. He would straighten out those Pharisees and Sadducees. Jesus would take over the Temple and run them out! Jesus would clean up the Temple finances and throw those vendors and money changers out once and for all.
When God answered Jesus in verse 28... well, that sealed the deal. Jesus just had to go to the Cross now.
Jesus of Nazareth could no longer hide. Everyone knew who Jesus was.
Jesus could no longer hide.
