1 John 3:11 For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. 12 Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother’s were righteous. 13 Do not be surprised, my brothers and sisters,[b] if the world hates you. 14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death. 15 Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.
16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
19 This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: 20 If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. 21 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God 22 and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. 23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. 24 The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
b. 1 John 3:13 The Greek word for brothers and sisters (adelphoi) refers here to believers, both men and women, as part of God’s family; also in verse 16.
Yesterday I was censured by a Bible Study group. My Bible Study from yesterday was not "Christian". Maybe I should start from the beginning to give you a better chance to see both sides.
There was a message on the page.... it said that Focus On The Family had the twitter account suspended. See, a congress person is transsexual. They make sure that whenever they mention this congressperson they call out the fact this person is a transsexual who appears to be a woman but she's "biologically male". Now this person is not the issue.... at issue is that twitter doesn't like them labeling this member of Congress.
Now yesterday... before I went to my facebook page.... I posted my Bible Study. I do that every morning. First I make my bed, turn on the coffee pot.... and then I post a Bible Study here.... then I get on with my day.... I check my emails and go to facebook to check on the kids, grandkids, and friends. I'm an old woman.... I have a routine. When I saw their story on focus on the family..... I remembered that the kids shows are great... but the adult conversations are hateful..... and I realized the thread had to do with the same discrimination and exclusion I witnessed for years and wrote about that very morning.
So big mouth Becky [that's me] ... said "good ... good they been labeling and hateful for years".... and I posted a link to my Bible Study from yesterday morning. Well.... that made them livid. These people still think focus on the family is good family worship. I should not say anything against focus on the family..... they are Christians.... and I am the one who is hateful...
There are a lot of shows on TV that could help the church. Focus on the Family is one of the groups that should change their format and help out. Inflaming hate by constantly pointing out the "biological" roots of a person is not helpful.
I decided that I would not sit back and let them quietly censure me.... I wasn't banned or in facebook jail.... I was just warned by the group... censured by the page... people were about to block me because I was not marching in step..... so I explained. I said..."there were three sons who got off that Ark. God hand picked Noah after Sodom. God could have tossed any one of those three sons... because God already knows our futures... He controls time and He sees the future as easily as we see our past. He could have stopped Ham from getting on the Ark... He knew Ham would say something to Noah while Noah was naked...and other humans would say it was the first homosexual event after the flood... and God let Ham on the boat anyway..... God doesn't have a problem with Ham... why should we? God knew Noah and his sons were just imperfect ignorant humans who had big sin issues.... and God could have just sculpted up an new perfectly clean non sinning family.... but He didn't... God chose Noah and Noah's three sons.... complete with all their sinning ways.... to repopulate His earth after cleaning it by flood. Jesus loves all the humans.... they are all important to God." I'll find out today if I was put out of the group.... but I was "labeled hateful" yesterday by the group... not facebook..... or twitter....
Jesus loved everyone. Even Herod... He was angry with Herod for what Herod did to John the Baptist.... but if Herod Believed... then Jesus gave up His life for Herod just as He gave His life for you or me. Even the transsexual down the street.... Jesus loved them too.... they were called Eunuchs back then... castrated.... some by accident, some by war, and some by desire.... Jesus loved them anyway.... they were human. Jesus loves all humans.... John said... if we are Christians... our goal is to be Christ Like.... and Jesus loved everybody. Let's not forget.... good king David.... the great great whatever grandfather of Jesus the Messiah had his girlfriend's husband murdered on the battlefield to cover up their affair.... Jesus loved both David and Bathsheba anyway..... and the woman at the well....... what about the squealer who got his life back [paralyzed for 38 years] and then testified that Jesus was the one who told him to pick up his mat on the Sabbath. Jesus loved humans.
John was the best human friend of Jesus the Messiah. John said Christians should naturally act more like Jesus. I know quite a few people who have made mistakes.... huge mistakes.... mistakes that altered the lives of everyone they cared about..... and then they found the Lord. Jesus doesn't label them.... Jesus accepts them.... why shouldn't I?
So.... since I think labeling is a bad thing.... since I think all humans are God's creations.... hand sculpted by God.... who even counted the hairs that would grow in their heads [if any] and who chose the colors of adornment He would use..... it makes sense that I think focus on the family should be focused on the family and leaving the labeling to God.... not Adam..... who knew the tree was labeled poison and ate anyway...... stupid Adam..... and then blamed it on God for giving him a woman..... focus on the family.... stop labeling.
Jesus loved humans.... All humans....
