I heard about his death this morning, very sad. He had a great voice and I remember listening to him as a kid. RIP

His narration

meant my Saturday chores were done.

I could then sit back and watch the Wide World of Sports!...
Memories stretch back to Munich '72.

If anybody finds ...

a televised tribute to him...(documentary style)
would you post it?
There are some great memories I'd love to share with my daughter.

I grew up listeing to Jim McKay and watching the WW of Sports. I didn't realize (all those years) he was from MD most of his life. He was the first broadcaster at WMAR in Balthimore, and I just read today that one of his first sports broacasting events was a horse race at Pimlico.

His famous "The thrill of victory...and the agony of defeat" is etched forever in my mind, though.
RIP

I didn't know he was from Maryland originally. I did know he had a horse farm in Monkton though. I used to drive past it all the time when I lived up that way.

I should have said lived in MD most of his life! According to some articles I read he was born in Philadelphia and his family moved to MD when he was 14.
