..that Hunter doesn't have to pay rent, his father will cover for him. Pitiful !

Hunter: Deadbeat Renter

After his unconditional pardon from his father, Hunter Biden faces accusations that he owes former landlords more than $300,000 in unpaid rent.

Shaun Maguire, a partner at venture capital firm Sequoia, responded to the news of Hunter Biden’s pardon by claiming on social media that the president’s son owes hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid rent.

“So what happens to the $300k+ in back pay rent that Hunter Biden owes my family from 2019-2020? Is that pardoned now? Thanks Joe,” Maguire wrote in a post on X.

He added that Hunter “changed the locks and used secret service to enforce. We had no access to the property.”

Somebody in the other thread said that POTUS can only pardon federal crimes. I'm not sure if that's true or not, but this would be a civil case, not federal. Also why would you let someone get that far behind before suing for payment and evicting them?

right... I realize that this situation isn't covered by a pardon, just having a bit of fun ...

sorry for the confusion that I caused.

"For Joe so loathed the Law, that he pardoned his only Son, and reminded them that whoever needs something from him should cut a check for 10%."
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who had that run thru their head.

I'm not sure if he can pardon state laws, but I am pretty sure the wording of the pardon in question said federal laws.

Yeah I had to look it up.
Same.

I was a voracious reader as a kid, into my young adulthood, right up until my drinking became my all.

I still read a lot; have since I got sober and went to college.

The point is that I know a lot of words based on the context they're used in, but often find myself looking up words I know, and may have even used, but couldn't give you a denotative definition for.

Okay, that, and I'm getting old and my remembery is a little rusty.

A lot of times, I can guess. Last night we were watching a show and the characters on the tv were talking in short Spanish sentences - and the phrases appeared on the screen. My son asked what does that mean and I guessed correctly. (Because I looked them up afterwards).

I didn’t take Spanish in high school but Latin. I’m very glad I did. Most people never make use of their high school language classes but I took Latin primarily to learn English words such as might appear on the SAT.

Well THAT and there are no native speakers of Latin so it was like learning a secret language.

I've watched some YT videos where about the only place one can still speak Latin is the Vatican. Of course the speakers are quick to point out that they are speaking Ecclesiastical Latin.

If they were truly as woke at the current Pope would like, they'd be speaking Ecclesiastical Latino.

I took a few years of Latin in Jr. High. I remember nothing except how much I hated it.
Didnt' take the class but from various sources I picked up inter arma enim silent leges, sic semper tyrannis and et cetera.
