Jesus Appears to Thomas

John 20:24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus[a]), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”

But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

a.John 20:24 Thomas (Aramaic) and Didymus (Greek) both mean twin.

Jesus knew Thomas wouldn't believe until he saw Jesus for himself. So once again Jesus just appeared in the room a few days later.

Thomas must have been really embarrassed when Jesus told Thomas to touch the wounds of the crucifixion.

I think Jesus understood just how hard it can be for a human to believe something as intangible as Jesus rising from the dead.

The rest of us don't have the tangible proof of Jesus walking up to us and saying "Here touch my wounds". Jesus says that we will be blessed for believing that which we don't actually see and touch.

Here's the definition of faith.

1. Confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.
2. Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. See Synonyms at belief, trust.
3. Loyalty to a person or thing; allegiance: keeping faith with one's supporters.
4. often Faith Christianity The theological virtue defined as secure belief in God and a trusting acceptance of God's will.
5. The body of dogma of a religion: the Muslim faith.
6. A set of principles or beliefs.

So do you have faith?
