Did anyone know Mr Dixon who was recently lost in a sailing accident? I am trying to ascertain his rank before he retired so we can pay the proper respects in the article that we recently posted.

The obit does not say. My husband thinks it was Chief but is not 100% sure. Check you PM. I am sending you the e-mail address of someone in the sailing club who sent us all his obit. If she does not know she can find out for you!

John was a first class petty officer when he retired. I worked with him when I first started as a civil servant and was at his retirement cermony. I had not kept up with him over the years and was not aware of his death until this thread.

John was an "AT" which is an avionics techinician. I still remember when I started working on base and he answered the phone, "AT1 Dixon". I finally asked him what that meant because as a newbie to the Navy I had no clue.

I knew the whole Dixon family for many years... Sad that he went like that though.

I see little John at Outback from time to time working...
