John Piper's New Calvinism

OK. Now what is your typical purpose of posting this article? Let me guess - yes, protestants have differences of opinion, as well as your catholic church does.

I'm not a Calvinist, old or new, but I would lean to the Old. I say that simply because of the New holding charismatic stances (I believe in tongues, if it occurs, as an individual media between one and God in their prayer closet, but really cannot support tongues openly in public), and the New ordaining women to the pulpit (1 Cor 14-34, 1 Tim 2:12-14).

Other than that, as long as Jesus Christ is the sole basis for salvation, connecting through Him, and Him only, to God, it is what it is.

I hate this "go to advanced" crap just for an icon.

My sole purpose was for discussion. This is a religion forum, no? And to be honest, it's been kinda dry on here. But since you brought it up... How can my church as you call it have differences with itself? There is only one catechism of the RCC. Play down Calvinism all you want as a minor "difference." Not so, for God's sake you are part of the elect or not! Minor?

Weird then how in the Southern Baptists, Calvinists and Arminians both consider each other Christians and worship together. We consider Arminians to be heterodox.

By "we" you consider Armenians holding unorthodox doctrines or opinions? Which point - and I think that one can lose their salvation (my opinion).

Hetrodox is , in your opinion, just a differently held belief, and will that change your belief of salvation?

This discussion has been held before, numerous times on different sites. I say "once saved, always saved". Salvation by confession in Christ, honestly so and in one's heart, cannot be repealed. The Gospel of John points that out repeatedly.

Never saved in one's heart, never saved.

:buddies: I hate this having to go advanced for simple icons.

My humble opinion, in all respects.

What say ye, zguy and onel?

Wait I'm confused...second sentence above you say you don't subscribe to OSAS. But then a little lower you say you do?

The second sentence was a just a question in general that I could have worded a bit better. I'm working now on trying to remember my train of thought 12 hours ago when I posted it.

Once saved, always saved as long as long as it was a truthful, heartfelt repentance and trust in the Lord, and continuing that repentance and trust. I think my thought was if that hetrodox belief differs from the Biblical stand on salvation, were they saved in the first place?

Only God knows what is in one's heart, but outside actions, preaching, and witness can give others big clues as to where they are coming from.

By "we" I meant me and my fellow "new Calvinists".
