Michael Roane

The Prince George’s County Police Department in partnership with the City of Bowie Police Department identified and arrested a man linked to 19 airbag thefts. The suspect is 28-year-old Michael Roane of the 5000 block of Silver Court in Suitland. Roane and an accomplice committed all 19 thefts on Wednesday in the City of Bowie and in neighborhoods in Prince George’s County.

Roy Guzman

In addition to arresting Roane, detectives issued an arrest warrant for 24-year-old Roy Guzman of the 2500 block of Fairlawn Street in Temple Hills.

The joint investigation reveals that on May 22nd, between 1:00 am and 4:00 am, the suspects broke into 19 Hondas and stole the airbags. Through various investigative techniques, detectives developed Roane and Guzman as the suspects. At 8:30 pm that same night, officers located and arrested Roane.

“We appreciate the efforts of our partners at the City of Bowie Police Department. These types of crimes affect the lives of our citizens and are a priority for both departments. I commend the detectives who worked tirelessly to stop these criminals,” said Deputy Chief Jackie Rafterry, Bureau of Investigations.

Both Roane and Guzman are charged in connection with all 19 thefts. A stolen firearm was also recovered during the execution of a search warrant at Guzman’s home.
